The sphinxes on the University Embankment, the Smolny Cathedral and the monument to Peter the Great (Bronze Horseman) are familiar symbols of Saint Petersburg. The peculiar phenomenon of Saint Petersburg is the White Nights in May and June when you can admire Neva drawbridges in the gleam of unsetting sun.
