State Historical Museum
State Historical Museum (Historical Museum) is the nation's largest history museum in Russia, located in the Red Square in Moscow. The collection reflects the history and culture of Russia as a multi-ethnic state within the earliest time to the present day, and is unique in size and content of exhibition.
Museum is two floors of 39 rooms of the history of Russia from ancient times to the early XX century. The exhibition begins on the second floor. It is devoted to primitive society, ancient Russia, disunity, fighting against foreign invaders, joining Russia, the culture, the development of Siberia.
To go around the exposition it's necessary to do more than 4 thousand steps, which is about 3 km. In addition to information support on paper, the exhibition halls have a large number of screens. They show related stuff which is not included in the exhibition.
This tour will be interesting both for tourists and residents of Russia, as it shows the history of the Russian state and society in all details. Museum's collection of written sources has about 15 million pages of unique monuments of documentary on the history of Russia in 16th–20th centuries. One feature of these materials is that they are both part of the Archives Fund and Museum Fund of the Russian Federation.
