The main Cathedral of Russia has a complicated and rather tragic story. The building was initiated in 1812 by a manifest of Alexander I, but it took several decades to build it. The Cathedral was devoted to the victory over Napoleon Bonaparte.

After the revolution Cathedral was demolished in order to free the space for a monument of Socialism, but owing to a lack of funds The Palace of The Soviets was never built. Instead of this the excavation of the building was remodeled into the largest outdoor pool in Europe - Moskva Pool.

Today we offer a tour to the fully reconstructed Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, which is the most significant cathedral of the Russian Orthodox church ever built.

The interior of the cathedral was rebuilt in the tradition of building churches in Russia considering its old interior (before the demolition), and you will be deeply impressed by the work of the icon painters and arches and ceiling of the church painted and decorated with gold, and by its magnificent altar. You will also enjoy viewing Moscow from the observing area around the Cathedral, and a lower garden.
