Tour To The Arkhangelskoye Estate Museum
Arkhangelskoye estate is located near the Krasnogorsk and exists since 1537. Throughout centuries the manor has changed a lot of owners, it belonged to Upolotskiy, Odoyevsky, Prince Cherkassky, Golitsyn. Construction of the palace in its contemporary form was started by Golitsyn, but then was completed years later by Prince Yusupov. His interests included applied art and furniture produced with use of semiprecious and precious stones, made by foreign and Russian masters of late XVIII - early XIX centuries. Also his collection includes products of glyptics, tea and coffee sets made of silver and porcelain. Porcelain was a subject of a special interest for Yusupov. Most impessive items in his collection are products of the Far Eastern craftsmenship - China and Japan. In Arkhangelskoe you can also find ensembles of porcelain vases and decorated ceremonial interiors.
In the 1790s the palace complex was finished by Italian architect Giacomo Trombaro, who has added two terraces to the palace. It is located in the center of the complex, begins with an open space with a carpet of grass and goes further with a successive rows of trees and shrubs, creating a wonderful landscape.
The museum has a large selection of estate art collections, including collections of gold, silver and bronze, furniture, porcelain and much more. Estate's library contains more than 16 000 rare books, published between the 16th and 19th centuries, forming the Rare Books Fund of Arkhangelskoye.
